Nixon Mumper, professor emeritus from Nebraska Wesleyan University, died Saturday at age 86.

Mumper joined the Wesleyan faculty in 1956 as an assistant professor with seven years of college teaching experience.  He then advanced to associate professor of English.

He received his doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his bachelor of science in economics and master of arts degrees from the university in 1949 and 1950.

Mumper is survived by a brother, Robert, Harrisburg, Pa.; a sister, Joyce Reiley, Harrisburg; and nieces and nephews.
